Made in the US by The Trimshop (now known as The Thingshop): a conversion kit to make a pick-up from your 181. I don't have a lot of information because these things are quiet rare. The drawing is a detail from the catalog. Does that kit just excist of a small hardtop or are there more parts for the conversion? Who will tell?
Still waiting for a decent 181 selecta...On this site you can find a template of a 'nude' 181. With some cut-and-paste you can make something like this: (try it yourself and send me the results!)
It is indeed a support for a rack. The Danish army made this conversion to give their vw181's more loading capacity.Congratulations, sander!
Someone can guess what those strange sticks are for?
The 181 has a few look-a-likes. We all know the Citroën Méhari. But do you know this nice vehicle? The Jungla 600 (made bij Savio) in the 60ies. Based on a Fiat 600. I always thought those old Fiats had aircooled engines, but it seems that I was wrong. The engine is the back, as it should be!
Ever played with those Quartet cards when you were young? I did...
