181 kits were sent around the world. Almost 6.000 of those kits were assembled in Indonesia where they were called Camat and mostly used by the local authorities. Now these cars are retired, and have become public fun objects! Damn sweet right hand driven 181s!
Long time ago I posted a picture of a kitcar named Pingo. Here some other pictures of those rare Uruguayan car. Only 12 of these fibreglass cars were made. Not that bad because this copie misses the 'finesse' of the real car.
Put the striping on my car. In Europe stripings were unknown on the 181, in the US they were available at VW dealerships. So I recon I pimped my 181 US style?
With this border patrol guard (Bundesgrenzschutz) vehicle, I would try to sneakly pass the German border every day and hope they would catch me... oh wait... we are united europe now.
... I will trade my civil 181 for an offroader. Me like this frenchie.
A unique opportunity to see the acapulco roof without the canvas.
Ever seen these? A 181 equiped with special tires so it's railroadworthy.
